As a member of a three generation sheep ranching family, this figure is
particularly dear to my heart. A 24 inch figure, partial sculpt with
soft sculpt body over a rod armature. My husband fashioned the sheep
hook? I soldered it and assembled the other items on his stand. The
water in his pail is stained glass. The lamb is of sculpted clay,
covered with clipped wool.
This figure is absolutely authentic in presentation: in the spirit of
which and after much debate with myself I have stood him on a bed of
straw and grass hay from our own hay yards, which has been treated to
preserve color and fiber. His clothing has been constructed from my
husband's old, cleaned discarded ones. He is fully dressed including
stockings, undershirt and boxer briefs.
Many times, I have watched my son or husband pick up an orphaned lamb in
the lambing pens, then gently rub their silky ears to calm them, just as
illustrated, before finding a new mother or feeding them.
